Jason Forjet is slated to make the start on the mound in tonight’s road trip opener
The San Jose Giants begin an eight-game Southern California road trip this evening with the first of four straight contests against the Lancaster JetHawks at The Hangar. Jason Forjet is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants tonight. Forjet is third in the California League in wins (8), third among qualifying pitchers in WHIP (1.09) and fourth in opponents batting average (.233). His 19 career wins in San Jose is three away from matching the team record (Garrett Broshuis and Clayton Tanner). Following the series versus the JetHawks, San Jose continues their road trip with a four-game set at High Desert.
Doubleheader Thursday
The Giants and JetHawks will play a doubleheader tomorrow to make-up for the April 10 rainout at Municipal Stadium. Both games will be seven innings in length. San Jose will be the home team in the second game of the twinbill and the contest will count towards the first half standings. The Giants own a 39-30 first half record (second place in North Division – 6 1/2 games behind first-half champion Visalia).
Homestand Review
The Giants posted a 5-3 record on their eight-game homestand that concluded on Monday. San Jose won three out of four games against Modesto to begin the homestand before splitting a four-game series with Stockton. The homestand was the Giants’ longest of the second half.
Early July Success
The Giants are 7-4 in July after posting just a 10-16 record in June (April 10-11, May 21-9). San Jose has yet to lose consecutive games this month. The Giants’ three straight victories to open the last homestand (July 4-6) was San Jose’s first three-game winning streak since May 29-31. The Giants have hit 12 home runs in July – tied for second in the California League this month (Rancho Cucamonga leads with 17).

San Francisco Giants infielder Ehire Adrianza is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment with San Jose tonight. Adrianza is expected to play six or seven days with the Giants before continuing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento. Adrianza fouled a ball off of his left foot on April 14 suffering a broken bone. In eight games with San Francisco this season, Adrianza is 3-for-10 with a double, a home run and two RBI’s. He owns a career major league batting average of .214 in 238 at-bats. Adrianza played 180 games for the San Jose Giants during the 2010 and 2011 seasons (.271 AVG) before debuting in San Francisco in 2013.
Versus The South
This series marks San Jose’s first games against a South Division opponent in the second half. The Giants opened the half with 19 consecutive games against North Division clubs (9-10 record). Beginning tonight, San Jose will play 12 straight games versus the South. The Giants own a 14-10 record (.583) against South Division teams this year.
Jebavy’s Power Surge
Ronnie Jebavy has hit four home runs over his last eight games after doing deep just four times in his first 72 games this season. Jebavy is batting .310 in July (10 games) with four home runs and nine RBI’s.

Tyler Cyr has not allowed a run since joining the Giants (10 1/3 innings) while limiting the opposition to a .125 batting average.

Over his last 11 games, Jonah Arenado has produced 10 extra-base hits – seven doubles and three home runs. Arenado is batting .313 (15-for-48) during the 11-game stretch with a .646 slugging percentage. Arenado leads all current San Jose Giants in doubles (24), home runs (10), RBI’s (40) and hits (85).
